A message from our principal
Praveen Ramsookmohan
Durban East Primary is a public, fee-paying school.
The school has served the Austerville/Wentworth and surrounding communities for over six decades.
Durban East Primary first opened in October 1961 under the leadership of Mr Percy Johnson.
Various Principals have served this institution with distinction.
In 2018 I was handed the baton as an Acting Principal and appointed as Principal in 2019.
Durban East Primary School is respected for its academic and sporting achievements. We pride ourselves in nurturing learners with good discipline and we strive towards academic excellence.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated band of educators who focus on the development of the full potential of learners.
We offer both extra-curricular and co-curricular activities which our learners participate with a great deal of zeal.
Traditionally our learners have excelled in the sporting field and brought many accolades to our school.
Our learners have also excelled in co-curricular activities. In 2021 and 2022 our Foundation Phase learners were placed in the top three in the Maths Olypiad and our Grade R Learners featured in the top 5 of the 2022 Eloction Contest.
Together we can take Durban East Primary to greater heights.
